Improving workplace safety and saving money with targeted training:
This may seem obvious, but one of the primary reasons health and safety training is essential is because it’s a legal requirement. The benefits of remaining within the parameters of the OHSAct mean that companies remain sustainable and future-proofed.
It’s crucial not to become complacent with health and safety procedures, and to recognise that no workplace is completely safe. Health and safety should be a continuous process that enables employers to identify, monitor, and reduce workplace risks.
Losing workers due to a workplace accident, injury, or illness can significantly impact operations. Employers not only lose valuable time and resources managing the situation and finding a replacement, but they also lose the knowledge, skills, and experience the employee contributes. Effective health and safety procedures help minimise employee absences, reducing the risk of long-term disruptions to ongoing projects, and the potential loss of highly skilled workers.
Strat Training’s General Health and Safety course is designed to ultimately enable the learner to explain basic health and safety principles in and around the workplace.
The course covers seven modules, with topics covering legal knowledge, legislation, personal health and safety equipment, reporting of incidents, notices and signs (as well as colour coding) and emergency procedures.
This course is in accordance with Unit Standard 259639.
