What is Firefighting Training?

Before you can start saving lives of those affected by a fire, it is crucial that you learn the type of skills that are needed when faced with this situation. Our firefighting training courses do just that!

A firefighting training course deals with the process of acquiring skills to help put out a fire and how to effectively use them in a safe and correct manner.

Successfully containing a fire, without risking anyone’s life can become a tough situation. This is why firefighters need to undergo a series of training classes before they are placed in a real-life setting.

Firefighting training is not only important for firefighters, but also for those individuals who are interested in learned about fire safety too.

Why is it so Important to Take Part in a Firefighting Training Course?

This type of training is important for those people who are responsible for fire safety at work, at home or in your community. Firefighting training reduces the damage that can potentially be caused by a fire outbreak and it can save lives in the event of a fire.

Knowing how to react when a fire breaks out is one of the main reasons as to why you should participate in a firefighting training class. These fire safety classes will ensure that the participant knows how to respond in the event of a fire emergency. It is much more beneficial to know how to respond to the fire rather than just evacuating the building. This will help to reduce the damages of both the building as well as the occupants in the building.

At Strat Training, we offer three types of firefighting training courses. The three types include:
  • Basic Fire Fighting (Fire Marshal)
  • Basic Fire Fighting (Level 1)
  • Basic Fire Fighting (Level 2)

These classes will make sure that all its participant will be able to fight a fire using all of the basic skills thought to them during the training course.

All learners who are actively involved in any one of these three courses will learn the following;

  • Water supply
  • The different properties of a fire hydrant
  • The actions that need to be done upon the discovery of a fire
  • A series of different emergency procedures

Advantages of Participating in First Hand Firefighting Training and Courses in South Africa

It is important for all firefighters to participate in training courses. In this line of work, many lives can be saved just by being involved in these classes.

Training serves so many purposes, we’ve highlighted some of the most important reasons why it is imperative for firefighters to take part in a training course below:

  • Participating in a firefighting training course enables the firefighters to learn new tips and improve on their old skills in order to make their work safer. By educating themselves through these courses, the firefighters will be able to save lives and stop fires from spreading effectively.
  • Firefighting training allows the firefighters to calculate the risk involved and know how to manage it properly. If a firefighter does not undergo a series of training courses, he or she will not know how to deal with the task at hand without gaining any casualties in the process.
  • When a firefighter chooses to take part in a training course, it provides him/her with the necessary experience they would need in order to become the best at their job.
  • Training keeps the firefighter in an active state and helps them to remain involved in all the tasks on the field.
  • Taking part in a firefighting course enables you to learn important information such as instructions on how to prevent the fire from spreading, different techniques that should be used to suppress a fire and some of the types of hazardous materials to look out for that could be the cause of a fire.
  • It is important to remember that not all firefighting situations will be the same. By joining a firefighting training course, it increases the efficiency in the trainee’s action process and assists them with the knowledge on how to adapt to the situation.
